Wind Energy and Turbines.
How do I begin to choose? Size. Cost.
Zoning. These are all important considerations
and, as you already know and there is no single
answer, or one system right for everyone.
First step is; complete an energy audit, see
how much energy( Kilowatt Hours) you use, find
out if there are ways to lower your monthly kw.
There are many options available to home and business
owners.
The most important step is determining where
you can conserve energy and then to determine
monthly average used. By the way, the average
US household consumes about 900kw per month or
30kw per day. Large families can easily use 1500-2000kw
per month, conserving just 10-20% will be a huge
savings.
With average wind of 15mph, for 10 hours per
day, production for a 3kw wind turbine will produce
about 20kw daily or 600kw monthly. Wind speed,
location, height, temperature can all affect output.
Wind turbines are generally much more productive
during the colder months. Ideally solar can be
incorporated for a hybrid system to balance out
the hotter months.
